George Adie (1901-1989) was a pupil of G.I. Gurdjieff (1866-1949), who with his wife Helen Adie, spent the last 25 years of his life leading a Gurdjieff group of up to 100 pupils in Newport, a beachside suburb in Sydney's north. Together, they taught Gurdjieff's authentic methods and ideas including his movements and contemplative exercises. This book is written in two parts: first, a systematic account of who the Adies were and what they did, and second, a selection of writings by with transcripts of many group exchanges, chiefly but not exclusively with Mr Adie. This third edition includes all of the material found in the two previous editions, with an appendix on Helen Adie as a movements teacher, and some additional comments. From its pages, the practical approach to mysticism which characterised Gurdjieff is brought to life, with George Adie's distinctive incisiveness and wit. It includes a rare note on the formation of the astral (Kesdjan) body, and how the inner work facilitates this. Read more
