The 16th Army Aviation Brigade was established based on the model of US and certain NATO member countries' aviation brigades. Originally reorganized from the 199th Air Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the 1990s, it is currently located in the city of Brody, Lviv region.
